ABOUT ME

I have been designing and building furniture for over 20 years. My background training is in sculpture with a BFA from SUNY Buffalo and an MFA from University of Illinois. Before branching out to build my own custom designs, I developed my skills on the job as a professional woodworker in a cabinet shop, a chair company and a custom designer furniture business.

I use primarily sustainably harvested domestic hardwoods, like cherry, maple, walnut, oak and birch to create unique, custom designed, heirloom quality pieces that are built to last the test of time. My design aesthetic is inspired by traditional Japanese and Chinese furniture and architecture mixed with western crafstman aesthetics. In all of my pieces, I favor clean lines, rythmic repetition of design elements, and hand-rubbed oil finishes to emphasize the natural beauty of wood. My design process normally begins with individual meetings with the client in order to merge my design sensibility with their needs and desires. The results are unique pieces designed for long lasting beauty and durability.
